When he was 7 or 8
He heard a voice his own age
She spoke through cracks in the wall
From the cellar next door
Another child like him
Illegal, trapped and locked in
For ten years they shared everything

One Tuesday morning there was no reply
He grew more desperate as the days went by
All he wanted was an answer; her familiar whisper

He couldn't stand it here for one more day
And so he started planning his escape
He'd comb the city 'til her found her
He'd burn the city to the ground for her
Somehow he made it out onto the streets
Of lights and sin that he had never seen
He heard the traffic and the gunshots
This city is a vixen

For a boy that had never seen anything
Except the walls of a basement
It was all too much
The neon lights and the skyline distant
Taken all in an instant
This city is a vixen

Each day he searched for her
He left no stone unturned
This place enslaved, he'd learn
The Raven made this world
